Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

After doing "Ruth - The Musical" in 2002, we talked about vague plans to do the well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" some time in the future. So after a long break between productions, a team of dedicated adults and children are now making plans to put on this ambitious show in St.Mary's church hall in 2004. The cast will be made up entirely of children, with a small adult chorus providing backup when needed.

More details and the latest news will be added to this page as work on the production progresses.

  First Performance!
After a long day of final rehearsals and last-minute scenery and prop creation, St.Mary's Theatre Group's first performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat took place in St.Mary's Church Hall, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience of around 150 people. The collection at the door raised over £350 for Braendam Family House. A second performance will take place on Saturday 15th May, again with all proceeds going to Braendam Family House.

  Arrival in Egypt...
Rehearsals have resumed after the long Christmas break and it is great to be working together again. We have just arrived in Egypt, but as this means that we are only half-way through the production, the date for the performance will now be 27th March at 6.30pm in our church hall.
We would be grateful if people could let us know how many tickets they require, so that we can have an idea of numbers for health and safety reasons. Priority will, however, be given to the cast's relatives and friends. There will be no charge for tickets, but there will be a donation box by the door as you leave. Proceeds will go to out chosen charity, Braendam House.
In the meantime, our young performers are electric, out production team energised, and it promises to be a great show.

  Progress Report
Rehearsals for the musical are enthusiastically attended by 25 young people on Saturdays at 2pm. Parts have now been allocated and stage production is underway. There will be no rehearsals during December, but these will recommence in January when the adult choir will be needed.
Pippa has compiled a list of props and if anyone could supply any of the following items we would be very grateful: Beach deckchair, cowboy hats, toy abacus, large cushions, toy handcuffs, chef's hat, French berets, straw hats, ostentatious gold chain, gold cup or goblet. Please contact Kate or Pippa if you can help.

  Rehearsals Starting
Rehearsals begin on Saturday 6th September in the church hall at 2pm. We look forward to welcoming children from Primary 5 upwards to join Nerys, Julie, Chris, Ewan and Kate for an hour's singing practice. A small adult choir will also be required and will start rehearsing later. Anyone interested in helping in any way please contact Kate or Nerys.

It is hoped to put on a production of this for Spring of next year. There are lots of children who are keen to do it but a small adult choir and helpers will also be needed. Rehearsals are planned to start on Saturday 6th September at 2pm in the church hall.
